However, I feel as though the things that make us different are extremely important for you to know about, because they make your job easier. For today’s newsletter, we organized all the ways we go above and beyond and put them in an easy-to-read checklist for you. Why a checklist? We wanted to offer you a way to evaluate your current provider’s service. Use this guide not just to see how we’re different, but also to make sure you’re getting the service you deserve from your current provider. A Conversation with Erika
Our administrative director Erika Palacios has the unique perspective of someone who was previously employed by a property management company. We rely on her insights and direction to help us make decisions on how we can better serve you. We thought you’d enjoy hearing what Erika has to say! Q: What do you think a property manager most wants in a provider? EP: Reliability and dependability. For property mangers to know and trust that we will do the work and meet their expectations, Property managers don’t want to have to monitor or manage their providers; they’d rather partner with us so they can more easily manage their entire property. Q. What do you think a property manager most wants in a landscape provider in particular? EP: Subject matter experts. Property managers want professionals that help them plan and execute their vision of the property—and not have to hassle with managing them. To be notified of potential issues ahead of time is a real plus so they can address problems before something goes wrong. Q: What do you think a property manager is most often missing from their providers? What goes unattended most frequently? EP: Partnership. To know that not only will the service be completed, but issues will be communicated, plans will be made together, and their providers will handle all concerns. Q. What is a ‘deal breaker’ for a property manager? That is, what is it that a landscape provider would have to do for the PM to look for a new company? EP: When a provider is unreliable—that’s a deal breaker. When someone can’t get communications fast, and they have to chase after the service provider—that’s a deal breaker. Not fixing mistakes—that’s a deal breaker. No one will work for someone who is hard to work with! Q: What are the things a landscape provider can do that go above and beyond? EP: Notify the PM of work to be done. Send out reports of completed work. Offer recommendations. Respond to requests quickly. In short, communications!
