Something We’re Worried About

The Fall Beat, November 2024

It’s been a rough year, folks. Especially if you’re a tree. We’ve had pretty severe heat and long stretches with no rain, which is hard on trees. Add to that torrential end-of-summer rains, and some of your trees might be ready to topple over at the slightest push.

They might look good, but inside, many of them are struggling and you might not even know it.

I’d really like to recommend we send someone out to do an inspection. (There’s no charge for this.) We’ll particularly be on the lookout for trees that need deep root fertilization, crown reduction, or possibly even thinning.

Deep root fertilization is a type of fertilizer application method used to help restore trees that are in distress or beginning to decline. This treatment uses specialized equipment to inject nutrients into the soil around your trees’ roots.

Crown Reduction — selectively pruning to reduce height, spread, or overall size—opens a tree to sunlight and improves aesthetics by giving the tree a less scraggly look. We’ll also remove limbs that are overly saturated by recent rains so they don’t randomly fall on a car or—heaven forbid—a pedestrian.

Tree thinning is just as it sounds — removing trees if an area has become too dense. When trees are too close together, they don’t share very well! Can you please call me to set this up? We’d like to make sure you’re covered — for the sake of your trees and safety on your properties.

NATURE MAKES TENANTS HAPPY

Think about how you feel in a more natural vs. chemical-laden environment. Happier, right?

Natural fertilizers, pesticides, tick & mosquito control create a healthier environment that people increasingly care about. By avoiding an overwhelming amount of synthetic chemicals, organic landscaping promotes cleaner air and reduces the risk of allergies, benefiting both tenants and site visitors.

As far as looks go, organic landscapes feature native plants, which thrive in local conditions. This creates visually appealing spaces that evoke a sense of well-being and connection to nature, making tenants more likely to enjoy their surroundings.

Organic practices also support biodiversity, attracting beneficial insects and wildlife, which create a more vibrant ecosystem. This not only enhances the property’s natural beauty but also satisfies the growing tenant preference for sustainability and environmental responsibility.

Finally, tenants will appreciate your commitment to eco-friendly practices, which reflects positively on you as a property manager. Overall, organic landscaping creates a more enjoyable, healthy, and sustainable atmosphere, leading to happier tenants.

And as you well know, happy tenants stick around. Many of our clients are introducing one or two at a time rather than going fully organic. Baby steps! If you are interested in exploring one or two options, let me know. I’d love to talk to you about it.

Warm Regards,

Kyle Thurman Design Director
